Pioneer XDJ-R1 – The union of some serious DJ tech – Just add creativity!

Pioneer has climbed right aboard the iOS ship of late filling their units with Airplay and wireless features to create the next generation of media devices.

Pioneer has announced the XDJ-R1, an all-in-one DJ system connecting wirelessly through an iOS app. The XDJ-R1 features auto beat loop, beat sync, USB connectivity, built-in dual CD players, MIDI control, and a number of music mix features is a union to appease most amateur and pro users.

The app which can be used via an iPhone or iPad lets users continue mixing music even while away from the unit, which demonstrates a real advancement in this arena. A USB storage device can be also connected so that you can choose songs from it via the units display and has the ability to play in multiple formats. The XDJ-R1’s tactile controls deliver limitless possibilities for live performance: packing in two touch-sensitive jog wheels for precision scratching, a two-channel mixer, and dedicated buttons for loops, Hot Cues, samples and studio-quality sound colour effects.

Pioneers BEAT SYNC function allows for one touch synchronisation of two songs making it easy to look a pro. Along with this the 4-Beat Sampler function makes it possible to play recorded sampled sound which was transferred from other sources simply by pressing a button.

This probably marks the end of DJ’ing being for the skilled few and lets anyone with an interest practice at home and flaunt their talents like never before.

Released this month with a price tag of £849 the XDJ-R1 is certainly worth a look.
